Orthovisc is a hyaluronic acid solution for intra-articular injection.
It’s one of the only treatments offering up to six months of pain relief that doesn’t come from avian sources.
Viscosupplementation involves the injection of a fluid with viscoelastic properties to compensate for the reduction in quality and quantity of synovial fluid, particularly observed in cases of osteoarthritis. The synovium acts as a cushion, preventing direct friction between the bone ends.
The sodium hyaluronate contained in ORTHOVISC has an average molecular weight greater than one million. ORTHOVISC will not cause an inflammatory reaction, it is nonpyrogenic and well tolerated. It has been shown that sodium hyaluronate is not an antigen.

Composition :
- Contains 15 mg/ml sodium hyaluronate (NaHA) dissolved in physiological saline solution.
- Kinematic viscosity: 20,000-50,000 centistokes.
- Osmolality: Approximately 340 milliosmoles.
Tips for using Orthovisc:
The complete treatment procedure involves one to three injections per week for a duration of three to four consecutive weeks. Although the effects may differ from person to person, it is noted that some individuals may experience relief from the first injection.
